Everything starts from a dot.
Creativity is born in the mind
Wassily Kandinsky, painter and teacher of the Bauhaus movement, summed it up in the following statement:
The history behind Bauhaus
No other school of art has influenced modern design as much as the Bauhaus. Established in 1919 in Weimar, it revolutionised aesthetic and architectural conceptions.
The Staatliches Bauhaus, now commonly known simply as Bauhaus, was an art school founded by Walter Gropius. It sought to unite art, technology and crafts in a way that was revolutionary for its time. One of its objectives was to find ways in which industrial manufacturing techniques could be used to combine individual artistic vision, modernism and economically competitive construction.
Today, one hundred years after the founding of the Bauhaus school of architecture, the prevalence of interesting buildings, décor and furnishings in the Bauhaus style stand testament to the revolutionary ideas of the movement. The guiding principle was to unite architecture, art and technology and this is what makes the Bauhaus style so special, even today. Bauhaus continues to be the most important twentieth-century school of architecture and design, and of fine and applied art, and it influences aspects of our lives right up to the present day.
